The Blazar Sentinel 35-60mm 1.33X is a compact full-frame anamorphic zoom lens designed for filmmakers who want the flexibility of a zoom without giving up the distinctive character of anamorphic cinematography.
Covering a versatile focal range from 35mm to 60mm, the Sentinel moves effortlessly between wide environmental compositions, documentary coverage, medium shots and intimate portraits. Its continuous zoom range reduces the need to change lenses, helping you work faster while maintaining a consistent cinematic look throughout your production.
The Sentinel uses Blazar’s refined 1.33X anamorphic optical design to create a wider horizontal field of view together with elegant oval bokeh, expressive highlights and distinctive horizontal flares.
Its warm amber flare rendering adds atmosphere without completely overpowering the image. The moderate 1.33X squeeze also makes composition and monitoring easier than with stronger anamorphic squeeze ratios, especially when working with compact camera setups.
With a 36 × 24mm image circle, the Blazar Sentinel is engineered to cover full-frame sensors throughout its entire 35-60mm zoom range.
This makes it suitable for modern full-frame cinema cameras and mirrorless systems from Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Blackmagic Design and other manufacturers, depending on the selected lens mount and camera compatibility.
When paired with a 4:3 recording mode, the 1.33X squeeze can create a classic 2.39:1 widescreen image. On 16:9 sensors, it delivers a wider panoramic frame while retaining the characteristic anamorphic rendering.
The Sentinel opens to T2.2 at 35mm and gradually transitions to T2.8 at 60mm. This relatively fast aperture allows you to work in available light, create good subject separation and make full use of the lens’s oval bokeh.
Please note that the Sentinel is a variable-aperture zoom lens. Its aperture markings are calibrated at 35mm. At other focal lengths, the engraved T-stop scale should be treated as a reference.
The Blazar Sentinel features a parfocal optical design, allowing the selected focus position to remain stable while zooming between 35mm and 60mm.
This is especially valuable for controlled zoom shots, live productions, documentary work and situations where reframing must happen without interrupting the take.
Weighing approximately 970g, the Sentinel is exceptionally compact for a full-frame anamorphic cinema zoom. Its lightweight design makes it suitable for handheld rigs, shoulder setups, car mounts, compact cinema cameras and compatible gimbals.
A 200° focus rotation provides enough precision for manual focus pulling while remaining practical for solo operators. Standard cine-style gearing allows the lens to be integrated with follow-focus systems and wireless lens-control motors.
